How a cartridge refill works
- 1 The cartridge is disassembled and inspected visually.
- 2 The waste toner chamber is emptied and all working surfaces are cleaned.
- 3 Wear parts are checked — OPC drum, wiper blade, doctor blade, PCR roller — and replaced where needed.
- 4 The cartridge is filled with toner or ink matched to the specific model.
- 5 The chip is replaced or reset if the printer model requires it.
- 6 A test print is made before the cartridge is handed back to the customer.
Replacing worn parts is what separates a proper refill from simply pouring in toner. Without it, print quality drops within the first few pages.

When a cartridge cannot be refilled
HP models ending in the letter "e" (for example, HP LaserJet M110we) are HP+ programme printers. They require a permanent internet connection and accept only original HP cartridges. Fit a refilled or compatible cartridge and the printer will refuse to print.
If you're buying a printer and want to use refills, we recommend:
- HP M110w without the "e", not the HP M110we
- Epson EcoTank models with refillable ink tanks
- Canon PG-540L compatible models

Will a refilled cartridge damage my printer?
No. A proper refill with worn parts replaced and toner matched to the model will not damage the printer. Problems arise when toner is simply poured in without disassembly and cleaning.
Can I refill an HP cartridge if the model name ends with the letter e?
No. HP+ printers accept only original HP cartridges. Refilling is not possible for those printers.
Can a cartridge be refilled more than once?
Yes. Most toner cartridges withstand several refills. At each refill we check the wear parts and replace them when needed.
